Yeshivat Maharat is seeking an Operations and Development Assistant (the “ODA”) to help actualize Maharat’s mission and vision by providing administrative and operational support necessary to ensure the smooth function of the institution in the areas of communications, development, operations, recruitment, programming and finance. The ODA interacts with and supports Maharat’s students, faculty, and staff. The Operations and Development Assistant will report to the Chief Operating Officer and work collaboratively with and support the Director of Advancement and External Communications, Director of Recruitment and Admissions, Director of Academic Affairs and others.

This is a great opportunity for someone interested in Jewish communal work to gain exposure to all aspects of non-profit operations. Our ideal candidate will have a great work ethic, facility with learning new software programs, good writing and verbal skills, and the ability to work independently but also thrive as part of a collaborative team. This person must be well organized, flexible and enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting an office of diverse people.

Salary range for this position is $40,000-$55,000 commensurate with experience. Full benefits package including health insurance, 403B match, transit, dependent care and health flexible spending accounts. Position is located in Riverdale, New York.

Responsibilities:

General Operations
The ODA will provide general office support including processing mail, answering phones, greeting and directing visitors, ordering needed supplies, and providing general support to the Chief Operating Officer and staff as requested.

Programming
The ODA will support the faculty, Rosh Kollel, Deans, and Director of Academic Affairs in executing intensives, shabbatonim, retreats, and other school events. She/he will coordinate and organize all student and faculty evaluations and is responsible for maintaining the institutional calendar. The ODA is also responsible for the publication of the weekly parsha newsletter. He/she will also support the students in questions related to contracts, school email addresses, access passes, and more.

Recruitment
The ODA will support the Director of Recruitment and Admissions with the admissions process by tracking applicant submitted materials in Salesforce, sending admitted students necessary forms and generally assisting the Director of Recruitment and Admissions and the Admissions Committee as requested.

Development and Fundraising
The ODA is responsible for the collection and retention of all information related to donations, including maintaining the donor database and entering all donations into it, preparing reports as requested, and preparing donation acknowledgement letters. The ODA will also assist with calendar year-end campaigns, graduation and other special events and solicitation campaigns. He/she will prepare a weekly report of donations received for the COO and accountants to ensure that Maharat’s financial records are accurate. The ODA will also provide grant management assistance to the COO and Director of Advancement and External Communications, including maintaining a calendar of all foundations and major donors for whom reports are needed or renewal proposals are due, and tracking important funding and reporting dates.

Financial
The ODA is responsible to process, record and deposit all checks received, and to assist with other aspects of the accounting process as requested, including sending invoices for payment through the bill payment system, the reimbursement of student expenses through same, and processing of stipend payments. He/she will also assist the COO with onboarding new employees into payroll system and ensure that employee FSA, parsonage, 403B and other deduction forms are submitted at the beginning of calendar year

Marketing/Communications
The ODA will support Maharat’s marketing strategy, including designing content for our newsletters and posting on social media as requested by the Director of Advancement and External Communications. She/he will maintain the Constant Contact database to ensure email addresses of subscribers are updated.

Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, managing multiple tasks and prioritizing efficiently and effectively
A high degree of integrity; dealing with confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Ability to learn new software programs is essential
Strong writing and social media skills; facility with social media data analytics.
BA/BS. Work experience in an office environment is preferred but not required.
A professional demeanor and outstanding organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
Familiarity with the Jewish community, especially the Modern Orthodox community, and knowledge of Hebrew helpful
